Since 2022, Investigative Data Engineer at OCCRP (Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project).

Achievements during this time:

• Architected end-to-end ETL pipelines for data collection from dozens of sources, including static and dynamic websites (AJAX, hidden APIs, REST APIs) and CI/CD-integrated workflows.

• Maintain and optimize the internal Aleph Pro database.

• Developed comprehensive data cleaning processes: normalization, deduplication, and parsing of unstructured datasets.

• Designed and containerized applications using Docker for development and testing environments, with experience in Kubernetes.

• Empower investigative journalists by formulating data-driven hypotheses, verifying data accuracy, and conducting in-depth analysis.

• Lead the development of internal team data products.

Notable Projects & Achievements

Data support for the “Bad Practice” project. Designed the methodology for an international investigation tracking licensed doctors who continued practicing in other countries after serious misconduct. Processed ~2.5 million records from 51 countries using 42 custom scrapers and dozens of FOIA requests. Uncovered at least 103 confirmed cases of cross-border medical malpractice.

Kyiv City Council Analytical Platform (https://kmr-data.com/). Developed an end-to-end ETL process for analyzing individual municipal voting records.

Data support for the “Dear Compatriots” project. Managed large-scale data leaks, performed advanced data analysis, and network analysis.

• Mentorship: Kazakhstani journalists under my mentorship won 1st place in the Media Camp Award (2023).

• Civic-Tech Tools: Developed online dashboards for tracking MP legislative authorship and voting records, as well as the @chesno_zakon_bot on Telegram.
