Biography

Since 2025, сo-author of the “Kyieve Miy” (My Dear Kyiv) Project  Union of the Museum of Outstanding Kyivans. She hosts the eponymous program together with the founder of the Museum, Serhiy Kostyanchuk.

Since 2024, co-author of the project “Founding Fathers” (Batky Zasnovnyky), who formulated the idea of Ukraine and justified its statehood. Sokolenko hosts the program on Ukrainian Radio together with Serhiy Stukanov.

Achievements during this time:

  • Released dozens of programs and, together with historians, researched over ten centuries of our history starting from the times of Rus’; they discuss thinkers and intellectuals who, in different eras, put forward the idea of freedom and independence for Ukraine, including Petro Mohyla, Mykola Kostomarov, Taras Shevchenko, Markiyan Shashkevych, Olena Pchilka, Lesya Ukrainka, Mykola Mikhnovsky, Julian Bachynsky, Mykhailo Hrushevsky, Oleksandr Konysky, and others.

From 2018 to 2020, she served in the first and second convocations of the Public Integrity Council, which was established to conduct judicial reform and cleanse the judicial branch of dishonest judges.

In 2013, together with colleagues, she initiated the creation of “Hromadske Radio” (Public Radio) and ultimately served as the deputy editor-in-chief of this media outlet for several years.

Achievements during this time:

  • Became the deputy editor-in-chief of “Hromadske Radio” and worked in this position for several years;
  • Became the host of the radio marathon “Euromaidan Online” and the talk shows “Hromadska Khvylya” (Public Wave), “Rankova Khvylya” (Morning Wave), and “Kyiv–Donbas.”

In 2012, she ran for office representing “Democratic Alliance.” In the 2014 elections, “DemAlliance” united with “Civil Position” and ran for parliament. Natalia Sokolenko was in the top ten of the list, but the political association was unable to participate in the elections.

Since 2012, she has maintained a blog on “Ukrainska Pravda.”

From 2000 to 2012, she worked at the STB channel in the “Vikna-Novyny” program. She resigned due to censorship related to Natalia Korolevska, whom political technologists were framing as a supposedly opposition candidate to the team of then-President Viktor Yanukovych for the parliamentary elections.

Achievements during this time:

  • Received the most prestigious award for television professionals, “Teletriumph,” in the “Reporter” category (2009).

In 2010, participant of the “Stop Censorship!” Movement.
